Good afternoon,

I have questions regarding the report. I read a few posts but I am not familiar with the issue how to link to another file.

Let's say, I have a report run from a query. My query produces me the result from several fields. One of the fields, TotalTime, is a calculated field. The result is OK.

I have an Excel file that provides similar information. Let's say the file is called, "details", residing in F:\Access\details.xls.

My questions are:

1. If I change the worksheet property of the field, TotalTime, regarding "Is Hyperlink" to "Yes", what will it do?

2. Am I required to change the field property to "hyperlink"? As I previously mentioned, this is a calcualted field.

3. If this is working, how can I link it to my Excel, details.xls file?

4. Right now, I am doing a print preview. It does not provide me with any hotspot to click. Is the output file required to be in a certain format?

I do appreciated your response. Thank you.

I don't really understand all that you are asking, but this is just to say that you cannot get a clickable hyperlink in an Access report. Maybe a pdf will do what you want.

You can link to an Excel file using File>GetExternalData>LinkTables

Lupin46,

Thank you for your reply. I do apologize if I am unclear to you.

I am designing a report in Microsoft Access, using a query to be my source. In this query, I have a field called, totaltime, which is a calculated field. I put this field in the detail section.

What I would like to do is, when the report has been generated in the PDF format, the user can click this field and it will open my details Excel file, called "details.xls"

I changed the field property to "Is Hyperlink" to yes. So far, I have not seen any results when I use a print preview.

What did I do wrong? Let me know. Thanks.
