Is Flash Connector Required For ASP.NET

I would like to create a website using Flash MX as the user interface and ASP.NET on the server-side. Macromedia's tutorials on the subject require the Flash Connector. But is this necessary? Or, can I do it without the connector?

dont think so but i expext you will need remoting. as an intro why not look at
