With my experience in Flash I hoped to come to Director with ease. Maybe it's because I am new to Director, but I don't see the same capabilities in Director as I do in Flash. Are there limitations to Director? Or can Director perform the same as Flash? One example: In Flash I can make a MC (movie clip) or animation that I can use multiple times in the same movie or in another. This does create multiple timelines (scores?), the main timeline and the timeline for the MC.
So far the only advantage I notice with Director is that I can link to an external video. In Flash if you link to a video then your whole movie or project is exported as QuickTime movie. If you decide to imbed the video then you compromise the video quality because Flash is thinking "this is for the web".

Can I do all I want and more in Director?

If your final product is for the web and if you can do it in Flash, then use Flash.

Director is far more powerful in terms of programming capability and user interactivity but probably an overkill if it is for simple web animation.

If you want to use video in your Flash movie, use Flash MX, which is capable of importing digital videos.

As far as I'm aware, the only thing Director can't while Flash can is Unicode handling. Well, I can embed Flash in Director to overcome this issue. But things Flash can't while Director can - I just don't know where to start. The list will be 10m long. And the list will never ends as new Xtra's appears with new capabilities.
