Is Cat 2912 similar to 2950?

Hello all, I am in the process of buying some used gear to build out a study lab for CCNA + CCNP, and was wondering if I could use a Cisco 2912 in place of a 2950?

Are there any differences that would preclude it from consideration? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but it seems every source I find leans toward the 2950 instead of the outdated 1900 series switch. No one has mentioned the 2912 switch.

Just wanted anyone's opinion before I spend my cash. :)
