Is automated export to Crystal possible?

When a report is run (over a Crystal report viewer) (Crystal v8.0), is it possible to automatically create a Excel version (automated export to Excel)?

I do not think so, however there are a number of third party products that can do this. Check out and Both are active members of this forum and have good crystal reports scheduling products with export capabilities.

Yes, you can do this. Before the code to display the report in the Viewer, you can set the properties of the Export object in the RDC then call the Export method.

It sounds like you don't want to use another tool to view or schedule the report, but to cause an automatic export to Excel each time the user views the report (in Crystal or in your existing viewer).

If this is indeed the case, you would need to buy (or build your own) User Function Library (UFL) that causes an export to occur when a formula gets "evaluated" within your report.

My "CUT" User Function Library provides this functionality, and there may be other candidates in the listing of 3rd party tools provided by Ken Hamady at:
