Is anybody aware of a way to record a stations conversations for a whole day? What we are doing today is hooking a tape recorder up to a phone terminal with service observing on. When the tape reaches the end we have a full tape with lots of dead air and maybe 3 or 4 recorded calls. I am wondering if there is a way to capture these phone calls on a computer or in the definity or something so that we have instant access to calls and dont have to fool with the tape recorder.
We have a Definity G3si V11.
Any input would be appreciated.

You can download the free software called Scanner Recorder from The software is great for recording audio from radios or even phones because it has the ability to set squelch threshold. You can have this hooked (with a Radio Shack phone line monitor) and have the calls recorded to a .wav file. The software also will provide some logging functions.

Hope this helps!

Get a digital voice recorder that has Voice Activation. It will only record when someone speaks. Then you can transfer it to a *.wav or *.mp3.

An expensive, but real good recording system is a system called NICE. This is used by many call centers. When used with CMS and NICE Analyzer you can can keep great records about the call and easilly find a specific call and listen to the recording.

IPSI

You could also check with Dictaphone we use them to record conversations from our call center and it is my understanding that police depts. use them also. They have proved to be very relialble.

Avayas new Modular Messaging (voicemail) offers recording - see support.avaya.com for more details

Thanks,
Chris

If you are a small call center without a need for an expensive unit like the Nice Systems but want something a bit more elegant than a tape recorder, then check out for one example of a type of unit that connects your PC to your phone via a USB port. There are others like this but at $129, it's hard to beat. Hope this helps.
