Hello friends of Access,

As you may or may not be aware, Windows Vista will not be supported/compatible with MSDE 1 and MSDE 2000 - it's common knowledge.

As a consquence, some of my apps will need to be re-worked to use SQL Server 2005 Express instead of MSDE. I'm currently using Access XP/2002 ADE's to connect to MSDE 1/2000 databases.

I want to know if these two are compatible? Can I create tables, views, stored procedures, functions, etc in Access (as I can normally with MSDE 1/2000)? Can I edit and view teh data as normal? Will it deploy OK as an ADE?

Thanks in advance.

Access XP is not compatible with SQL Server 2005 Express. It can view the tables but cannot add, edit or delete any of the data therein, nor can it apply any design changes to tables and relationships. That's the official line.

However, I've found a link that say otherwise:-

How to connect to SQL Express from "downlevel clients"(Access 2003, VS 2003, VB 6, etc(basically anything that is not using .Net 2.0 or the new SQL Native Client))
