Is a 7410 battery the same as a 7406's?

I have a 7410 with a battery with one shorted cell (common Ni-Cd problem) and a ready supply of 7406 batteries, just not on hand to check personally. Are they interchangeable?

Yes they are. The T7406 is an NiMh where the 7410 was a NiCad. NiMh being the better choice.

Will the Ni-Cd charging circuit in the 7410 base be able to handle the Ni-Mh battery?

Yes. They have the same pin out/voltage requirements.

OK, thanks, I'll requisition one right away.

I'll also take a shot at tearing apart the old one and blowing out the short. It's worked for me on other requipment in the past. Just something to tinker with in my (laughable) spare time.
