Greetings,
Win XP Pro / SP2 I have had a recent opportunity to attempt to remove this incredibly stubborn spyware, VirusProtectPro, nothing seems to kill this thing. I used Webroots Spysweeper and also PC Tools Spyware Dr. These two anti-spyware programs are unmatched in the anti-spyware arena, at least in the experience I have had with them (If you know of any better ones please let me know) I ran these removal program in safe mode (VirusProtectPro was alive and well even in safe mode, down by the clock. I’m sure Hijackthis would find the needed reg string but I would really like to find a good removal tool if possible.
Thanks in advance

No single tool is able to remove everything. This spyware probably has a trojan attached to it. Also have you emptied all temp locations?

Download these 3 programs and run them with yours in safe mode. Run the ccleaner first. then avg anti spyware and then your programs. Then run this registry cleaner.

avg anti spyware

ccleaner

eusing free registry cleaner

When done, please post a hijackthis logfile on here.

You’re correct regarding no one program will get then all, however with the ones I mentioned you have a better shot at it. Thanks for the info. Keep up the great job

Even with those it is still wise to run a registry cleaner and something else to empty all temp folders. As you can remove those all day long and if the temp folders arent emptied they will just usually reinstall themselves right back.

This might be of some more use for you.
