Hi Chapps,

Had this problem for a while now, starting to bug m a little. The PC started crashing to a blue screen all the time briefly after windows would start, the screen would not stay long enough for me to read so I gave up.

Am now using the Advent Recovery Disks to formatt the C drive and install the OS again, the issue i tend to be having is that during the installation process it someimtes struggles to find particular dll's ... after a few attempts it just blue screen and i get the following stop error

STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000010, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x8041FE41)

And the message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

I'm starting to think this must be a hardware fault somewhere on the system ... Maybe the RAM or HDD?

All comments greatly recieved.

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for thar Dian,

Seems that everyone has a different resolution on that posts, this is a notebook so the likeley hood of a loose IDE connection is pretty slim, Everyone on that forum seems to solve the issue in a different way, just disabled USB support from the BIOS and still no joy.

The errors i am getting are all over the shop, i get the above stated error, if i keep running the recovery CD it picks up where it left off ... finally get to te point where it is copying the system image from the disk ... and in now keeps saying "error extracting" a particular file on the disk (different one each time i run it) and then blue screens with a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error.

I'm completely lost.

Rob

Thanks, Rob

Well, the System Restore disks that came from Advent give you the option to "check the drive" before you begin the install.

If you choose "Yes" then it reboots the computer from the recovey disk again, at this point it is noe meant to scan the Drive ... but it blue screen crashes before it gets started.

Thinking its the Hard Drive ... considering that the installation process ofter had issues extracting file to it ... and it often cant find setup files it has already copied... just a little fustrating.

Thanks, Rob

Does anybody know a way of running a check on the hardware from a boot disk. The laptop doesnt have a Floppy Drive so it needs to be a CD or USB Key perhaps.

I Am mostly intrested in testing the Memory and Hard Drive.

Thanks For your help guys,

Rob

I have just run the CHKDSK from the windows recovery console, and it was a little vauge as to its findings, just said the disk was fine, so use /p if you want to scan anyway.

Used the /p and it then went through a couple of repair functions or somthing.

Now just re-formatting the drive to see if its going to behave or not.

Would still like to run a memmory test at some point though.

Thanks, Rob

Everytime I've seen the message IRQ Not Less Or Equal the problem has been the motherboard. Sorry.

Thanks Traycee .... you might be right.

Its only a crappy Advent bought from PC World ... The motherboard is probably made from Cardboard! ... the Ram chips from paper mashe and the outercasing from a bunch of melted down straws, put together using PVA or somthing.

I'll just go watch an episode of blue peter, they'll show me how to make a new one!

Cheers,

Rob

Is there anyway that i can confirm its a systemboard fault without swapping the board out? ... is there a diagnostics tool i can run to check it.

Thanks, Rob
