I have a SGI sys with Irix running on it.
Actually i cant see the console login .
It just shows a blank blue screen . I can use the mouse though.
Also i can remote login into the m/c
I am new to SGI . Can anybody help

It sounds like the box is set up for terminal console rather than graphic console.

On most SGI boxes if you ever boot without the keyboad pluged in the it sets a boot var for console to text or vt100 mode.

if you can login via telnet then run the command

"chkconfig"

look and set a few items if different from below.
visuallogin on
windowsystem on
xdm on

If any of these are off then enter the command
chkconfig visuallogin on

notice that I did not use an "=" sign. Just type it with a blank space.

also type the command nvram console g

this will set the boot prom to try and boot with the graphic display.

MAKE SURE THERE IS A KEYBOARD PLUGED IN OR THIS WILL NOT HELP.

Good luck
Keith
