Does anybody know how to read the IR port on a laptop? I want to be able to decipher signals from a TV remote and use it in my app.

I did some web searches for what you are looking for.

Unfortunately I do not have too much time now to research it, but what I have found is that your IR port is refered to as a Generic IR Serial Port (COM).

Check out this link

let me know if you get anywhere with this, I am also very interested

It seems that IR communications works a lot like the Winsock control, except you have to use the mscomm control to read data from it. Don't know which serial port it will be though...
