I need to install IPX support on a RedHat linux 7.3 system. I've heard you need to re compile the kernel. If this is true can someone tell me what software is needed (already downloaded mars_nwe) and maybe send a link or instructions on how to do it.

Regards,

Bob

You can install mars-nwe and configure the file.conf
You will use your linux as Novell server.
If you just want to connect to Novell server. You should install NCPFS.
You use this command :
# ncpmount -S servername -U username /netware

/netware (mount point)

Can the ncpfs software handle logins via NDS? I tried ncpmount and can't login, getting a -601 nds error, although I can do an slist and see our servers out there. I'll try to get mars_nwe going just for testing but I really don't need that functionality. Any info would be appreciated.

Check out Novell TID 10022800...

...and this document from Red Hat...

What version of NetWare are you running? 4, 5, or 6? If your running 6, you can use Native File Access.

this too...

I haven't attempted any of this before, but I know NetWare real well. I'm guessing that you need the -C option to specify your context. NDS can't find your username without the correct context.

I just got a hold of the ncpmount man page -->
The -C option has nothing to do with contexts. I would try using the distinguished name of the user. For example, .CN=chris.OU=payroll.O=Finance or just .chris.payroll.finance.

My login syntax was incorrect. I didn't need a -C option, example: user.xx.xx.xx . The volumes are mounted now. It appears this is just for file storage only, can't run any of the .exe's in public etc.. I am trying to find a list of commands that can be used with ncpfs installed?

Bob

Forgot to mention that I'm running Netware 5.
