With IPv4 I have always created reverse lookup zones that reflect the actual subnets in use - i.e. separate zones for each subnet 10.1.1.0/24, 10.1.2.0/24, 192.168.1.0/24 etc. If you have a site that has its address space nicely carved out and can be summarised would it be valid to use a summary reverse lookup zone? i.e. subnets are 10.1.0.0/24, 10.1.1.0/24, 10.1.2.0/24 etc and instead of having lots of reverse lookup zones just have a single one for 10.1.0.0/16?
This then brings me on to IPv6. With IPv6 you would typically be given a /48 and then you would carve this up into /56's for each site summary and then /64's for each subnet. Would it be valid having /56 reverse lookup zones instead of lots of /64's?
