For various network reasons I had to add a alias IP address to my server. Does anyone know If the alias address will still be present if the server is rebooted?

Listed are the smit screens to setup a IP alias address.

smitty inet
- configure aliases
- Add an IPV4 Network Alias

choose network interface

Enter the IP address and Network mask

Thanks,

This would add to the ODM and hence will be present after reboot,

If you use ifconfig to add the alias, then you need to run ifconfig, everytime server reboots.

The best way is to add the Alias with the smitty, because he writes it in the ODM and in /etc/rc.net
Ifconfig will set the Alias temporary
