Hi all, thanks for taking the time to read this.
I am becoming more and more concerned with security on my test development web server, and would like some advice.
I am a linux noobie, but have learned enough to set up my own server, which seems pretty secure. I have been going over the access and error logs and have found many many attempts at gaining unauthorized access originating from consistent IP addresses. Although these attacks have failed, I would like to find out if there is a way of completely banning those IP addresses from any sort of connection with my server. Can iptables do the job?
If yes, can someone point me towards a dummied down version that might talk me through the process of enhancing my security?
Thanks again for your time folks!
