ipsec between 501 and SMC 7004FW

I'm wanting to create a vpn ipSec tunnel between the pix 501 and an SMC 7004FW. the SMC is far less configurable so that will be the weakest chain to cater to.

any tips or suggestions on how to line up the settings between these two manufacturers?

any success between crossbreeding ipSec vendors?
