I have a Voxbox VMS connected to an IPS2000 through 4 analogue ports. I am trying to get this set up so that the messaging waiting light shows up on the phones, (both dterm and single line)and that the messages can be listened to, deleted etc by the touch of a button on the dterms.
My main questions on this are:
1. Do I have to use MCI for this? If so, how do I get this connected to the voicemail etc.
2. Do I need any additional software on the computer for this
3. How does it work if I program RS1 for SMDR and MCI? Currently I only have this for SMDR and use RS0 for Matworx. I do not have a AP00 card.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

1. No. You can use regular analog integration.
2. No but your VM software needs to be able to recognise the NEC MCI format. The input to the PC is via a RS232 com port on your VM pc to the RS port on either the CP24 or a port on an AP00-B card.
3. You can do what you are looking for with analog integration. If you decide to use MCI you would need to use port 1 for the MCI which effectively disables the built in modem if you are using it. If your VM and SMDR software can run together on the same PC and share the same input you can try using the RS port setting of SMDR and MCI but I am yet to find a software vendor that does this in Nth America.

Try setting SMDR for IP and use RS1 for MCI.

Again as Pave stated you could always write a collection tool for both SMDR and MCI out the same RS port. but let me have a cut of that in the US

OK. I have connected the voicemail to the 4 analogue extensions and access this by dialing 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. I followed the instructions of the Feature and Spec manual.

However, I am still not getting the message waiting light lit up. How can I verify that the DTMF signals that should be sent are actually correct?

Is there anything else that I need to do or program for this to work?

Thanks

Have you checked Cmd 1303 for all extensions. It needs to be set to zero. As for checking the signals you would need a capture tool such as a Ziad.

for 2009-2012 these must have 1310 set to a 0 and 08>443 must be a 1 for DTMF.

The default access code to light lamps id *9 then dial the ext number. The default cancel is #9 then the extension number. You should be able to do this from any station but more importantly from the VM single line ports.
If you are using analog integration you should also place each of the ports in a UCD group with a pilot and set the following timers 410>44>00, 410>48>01, 410>49>02 to help speed up the integration.
