We have an ipod touch connecting to our DHCP pool of addresses and being assigned an IP address. Is there anyway to retrieve information from this device to work out who the owner may be?

Regards

Dan

Look for its MAC address and config your DHCP server to not handout an IP address for that particular MAC address.

Or secure your Wifi AP a little better, my first choice. [pipe]

Thanks IRudebwoy already put a reservation on the DHCP to stop it connecting. Just wanted to find out who it belonged to. Turned all wireless access points off although only one has no security on and it was still trying to connect. Is there anyway it can pick up a DHCP any other way than wireless.

No. I got an iPod touch a few months ago and the only way I know for it to be networked is wifi, or maybe bluetooth. Although I suspect the bluetooth is for headphones and such. I haven't tried to see if it can use the bluetooth for networking. I play more games on it than music. [wink]

Now you got me curious. If I have time I might try some penetration tests on my iPod to see what I can gather. I'll try to have some results in a few days.
