Hey,
I'm trying to replace analog fax machines with a fax server. This fax server uses the dialogic/brooktrout SR140 SIP software as an FoIP interface.
I created an extension and a user for the fax software.
The extension has 4 appearences programmed (one for each channel), call waiting is on, ICR is setup accordingly.
Now I can make and receive multiple calls from the fax extension.

When someone wants to send a fax they can open their mail application and send the mail/fax to a specially formatted address (number@fax-server) the routing is done with DNS records. This works.

The only thing that doesn't work is when someone from within the company tries to send a fax/mail to a DDI from the company. The fax server receives a busy tone because from the IPO's point of view the fax server is trying to call itself.

Is there a way around this?

The hardware is an IPO500v1
The firmware is 6.0.83801

thx

Don't know if your server can do this but u could try making 2 extensions, 2 channels each.
Put those 2 in a sequential huntgroep.

So basically a user of the fax-server wants to send a fax to another user of the faxserver?
if i get it right then the fax-server is calling itself? That will not work. Can't you make separate lines for outgoing and incoming or even better, keep the fax mail between internal users within the fax-server?

That is exactly what's happening or isn't rather. :)

The latter isn't possible with the software, it might be possible with the DNS/mail server.

I can't get the first working, maybe with a trunk. I ditched that option in favor of the extension because the routing is easier to understand, imo.

Thank you for the input.

Why are they sending faxes to each other using e-mail?
Sounds a bit stupid actually.

Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Using one SIP extension with four call apearances is strange anyway as the fax-server can only send or receive one call at any given time and not four calls.
You must create four SIP extensions in a group which should solve your problem.
