Hi All, Dawn here. My BP wants to do the upgrade tomorrow night, with all of our problems, I am just a little concerned. I would like the opinion of those on this board (especially those of you who know about all my problems) on upgrading a system that is giving us so much trouble.

Thanks, Dawn

I would say upgrade the units but not voicemail. Have you seen what the 4.0.7 will fix? There are 3+ different things that can cause the unit to reboot. I would think you would not want the IPO to reboot.

There are reports of the voicemail grettings having issues not playing the first 2 seconds.

kurthansen, I haven't seen much about the upgrade. Is there a white paper I can look over? We are planning on doing it after hours, of course.

Thanks, Dawn

definitely be prepared for the digital phones firmware upgrade that is a part of the 4.0.7 release.

while this upgrade is certainly an option for trying to fix the problem I personally don't see it as the best next step. However short of defaulting the config via the serial port and swapping hardware, this may just be the path of least resistance (no pun intended concerning the grounding issue)to try to get a resolution. I would be surprised if the software alone fixed the problem.

how many users/how complex is the config on your current system? If you have a corrupt/flaky config an upgrade may not resolve the issue without actually starting from a fresh config after the upgrade.

kurthansen, thanks, I will look this over.

Gibsonic, fairly high and fairly complex, respectively. We have multiple hunt groups, direct fax, twinning, etc.

I am definitely worried.

I have also seen a number of threads that mention the handsets being upgraded as well. I am going to review the tech papers, but how long can I expect this to take?

Also, I will save my current config to somewhere safe, but I have no way to know if one is corrupt. All I know for sure is that the prospect of making it worse just scares me to death...

Upgrade.
You will not be able to get avaya to investigate these issues untill you are on there latest releases so you may as well get it out of the way 1st
