Hi all -

Sorry for the newbie post - I'm an old Meridian guy - getting stuck on basic stuff in our new IPO 8.0. I've searched but I think what I'm looking for is too simple for most people to even bother with, lol.

From our VMPRO AA, callers get the "dial by first name" option - but I can't figure out how to add "if you know your party's extension..."

I'd prefer if users could select either the "by name" or "by extension" option through the same AA prompt - but I'd be happy if we'd have to use 2 different prompts, too.

Thanks in advance - and I know I'll love this system if I ever get used to it! :)

As an example, if the extensions are 1XX, add 1?? as a touch tone sequence to the menu and route that to a transfer action of $KEY. There is a VM Pro sample exercises doc that might be handy for you to look through as it covers a lot of these types of things.

Thanks Biv, I will hunt for that VM Pro doc!

Much appreciated, I'll start digging! :)

you can also do "overlay dialing" 9e.g. use 1 on a menu for both dialing extesions beginning with 1 and for a option for customerservice for 1, by doing this:

1) on 1st menu add option for 1??
2) create a second menu with timeout and a ??
3) set timeout to 2-3 seconds and attach to a transfer to desired hunt group (customerservice)
4) tie ?? to a transfer with specific set as 1$KEY (you need to add the 1 as it was stripped at the previous menu).

Thanks Greybeard,

I noticed in VMPro that it does appear to allow hunt groups by name - which is pretty cool except that our callers wouldn't know it (AA needs to be re-recorded).

Also it had a timeout of 0 seconds (which I guess defaults to max); I did try staying on the line (rather than enter first name) and it did take quite a while to finally exit. I need to tinker with those settings as well.

Thanks for posting...as an old Nortel guy I'm very impressed with what the IPO can do!
