Good Evening,

Was hoping some of you could point me in the right direction, basically it SEEMS that ever since upgrading to version 8 our system tends to sporadically get hung up, this entails disconnected active conference calls/resources. When this happens, the phone is not responsive at all. After a period of time the user gets logged out, at which point if you try to log back in it will show up with "Button Features Invalid" as if there was not enough licensing on the system. There is however plenty of IP phone licensing available. In order to get these phones working, typically they need to be CRAFT cleared or power cylced.

System status shows Voicemail Channels in use at around the time of the disconnect / crash. We do run our own bridge, and it does get heavily utilized in the morning. So I can believe that this might happen (we have 40 ports) but that leads me to the question of why would it crash active working calls? Should not the next user that would exceed capacity get a busy?

The actual IPO Chassis was never restarted or rebooted, it appears that the phones were the only thing that disconnected.

Also, oddly enough, phones that are not even in use at the time, experienced the same non responsive behavior and logged out.

I honestly cant recall if this happened before our upgrade to 8, but it seems to be happening a lot more recently. Kind of hard to put my finger on it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

What does system status show for alarms?
How are these phones connected.. A POE switch or power bricks?
If POE switch check the logs for that as well..

Run system monitor and try to get a trace.. you could post it here. One of these chaps can read it lol

There have been reports of all VM channels being used causing reboots and such errors, seems to be a R8 bug :)

I appreciate the replies, system status just shows that the voice mail channels were exceeded, and the typical amount of instances of those alarms.

I will try to capture a trace, but its really hard to pin down as I don't feel like staring at system status all day waiting to start a trace when the channels start to fill up.

amriddle, it certainly does seem like bug like behavior. This is a really bad one if that's the case. I will try to do some more digging, but usually this forum is the best resource!

Thanks -

this maybe unrelated, but we had many fewer crashes from our IP office after putting a fan on it.

@nmessick, your the first one i've ever heard who put a fan on the IPO :)

@element4749, open the monitor tool goto status > alarm does it show alarms on the dates they say it rebooted? Copy/Paste the errors here.
