I know these devices are very similar, but can anyone confirm getting an IP Office Small Office Edition wrking as a branch to one of our IP403's

EG

IP403HH <---> IP403LS <---> IPSOE

We want the third office to be completely without lines - to use SCN for all call and signalling. If it can work are we best to have a new extension range on the IPSOE or use the same range as the IP403LS??

Thanks Gurus.

This will work.

i try always to use difrent extension range,s at diffrent side,s.
Then if you use shortcode,s you only have to make shortcode,s like 2xx and 3xx.

Excellent thanks for such a prompt response Peter.

There are some rules for SCN you have to take care of:

[ul]
[li]All numbers and names MUST be unique in the SCN domain[/li]
[li]Groupnumbers will not be shared over the SCN, use shortcodes to dial a group on another IPO[/li]
[li]only star configuration is supported by Avaya ( ring and mesh will work - however, don't ask help from Avaya in those cases )[/li]
[li]for break-out to PSTN via VoIP truks you need to setup all systems for en-bloc dialling ( send the complete number over IP or PSTN )[/li]
[li]Do not exceed 500 users or 16 sites ( not your problem i guess )[/li]
[li]Give all used lines unique ID,s[/li]
[li]Use the same codecs on all IP lines and extensions[/li]
[/ul]

So what if you do exceed 16 sites??? I have a 20 site network going fine at the mo, v2.0.16/18.
Another with potential 40 plus sites, almost there. Is it just the max Avaya will say they support due to port limitations etc...

Avaya do set there limits for a reason (although I suspect ther error on the conservative side).
40 sites with v-few useres a site "might" work but I wouldnt bet on it.

if you have this number of sites I would suggest breaking the network into groups of smaller SCN's & use Voip trunking between them using short codes.
