Hello,

Got an issue here that I've not seen before regarding IPO Server Edition acting as a DHCP server. This problem started 2 weeks ago where the phones will try to retrieve DHCP information from IPO SE but it can't for some odd reason. This was working before and the customer also indicated that they did not make any network changes.

Here is what I'm seeing on monitor,

Looking through DHCPstatus VIA monitor, I can see that when the phone (9608) tries to retrieve from the IPO SE, it goes from a "bound" state to "offering" state over and over again.

We've tried rebooting the IPO, tried increasing the pool size, tried clearing the phones, etc.

Really stumped on this one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Update: Found the issue. Customer swapped their Windows Server (also handing out DHCP) and plugged it into a different port that had both Voice Vlan and Data Vlan on it. This cause a DHCP conflict issue. We moved the Windows Server to a port that has only the Data Vlan and then everything started working again.

I love that swapping your Windows Server handing out DHCP is considered "no changes to the network" lol. Gotta love most IT guys/teams out there. When you get a good one it really is a pleasure dealing with.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Yea, we get these types of issues or types of customers quite often. This particular one apologized after blaming the IPO SE (saying they paid a lot of money for it, over and over) and me telling them that this was an issue on their network. shrug
