I have a customer with ip500v2 control unit, R7.0.5. All phones on the system are 9650 ip sets in vpn mode. No limitations with licensing or anything.

Recently, they've had 5-6 of these phones just unregister and lose vpn functionality randomly. The individual VPN tunnel is lost, and the phone also goes into a vpn disabled mode. It occurs randomly, and ultimately we've either had to replace or default and reregister the phones to come back online.

Is anyone aware of any firmware issue or manufacturer defect at all with any 9650 ip sets? I think our first step should be to upgrade to 7.0.27, but I just want to capture any feedback or see what folks may think. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Turn off dead peer detection on the VPN router.

Thanks Bas1234. We checked DPD on VPN router and it isn't enabled. We have a ticket open with Voda, investigating 7.0.5 issue and potential network issue as well.

What router do you have?

For a Cisco (no all of them) disable fixup for H323 use the following commands;

no fixup protocol h323 h225 1720
no fixup protocol h323 ras 1718-1719
