Hi Sirs:
Please could you help me to confirm if it is always possible to make ENCRYPTED CALLs between SIP devices (J100) in DIRECT MEDIA mode?
By "DIRECT MEDIA", I mean encrypted calls between 2 devices without passing through IPO server or IP500v2. In my own testings, all encrypted calls happen in INDIRECT MEDIA mode. Avaya tech docs are not clear as always.
What should I change in my IPO configuration?
I will appreciate very much your own experience and comments.
Regards.

The IP Office documentation implies that Direct Media us supported with SRTP, but only is the encryption settings between the device match exactly, otherwise the IP Office has to remain involved in order to ensure that each leg of the call is secure.

"SRTP direct media will occur when both external endpoints SRTP capabilities match, if they do not, IP Office will terminate both streams and convert. This will reduce the concurrent SRTP call capacity by two. This in turn places great importance on the various SRTP configuration settings within both IP Office and the various endpoints."

In fact reading further they do recommend to enable direct media - I would assume that because if it works it takes a huge load off the IP Office system.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

First, turn off all the SRTP and see if normal calls are using direct media.
