I have a customer with IPO 9.1 Preferred Edition that is interested in call recording. I am considering the Avaya solution or XIMA for call storage. They would like to be able to manually activate call recording on a conference phone. They currently have a polycom analog phone but are not opposed to swapping out if needed. Does any one know of a way to activate call recording on a conference phone? I realize that I could use an Avaya B179 but I would like to be able to easily archive and retrieve call records. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is a 'Call Record' short code feature. It would mean putting the conference call on hold, dial the appropriate short code and then unhold the conference call.

The other option is give the user associate with the conference phone an one-X Portal account (if you have a portal server) and use that to start call recording. The nice bit about that is you would also get all the other portal controls for managing the users in a conference (see who's in, mute, drop, etc)

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
