First posting here though I've found this forum to be very helpful over the years.

Have a question about a client's IPO 500V2 8.0 (44) system I plan on remotely upgrading to 8.0 (66). It has one external module, a DS30A RJ21 to support the Nortel phones still in use currently at 10.0 (44). When I apply service pack 6 will it automatically upgrade this external module to 10.0 (66) or is there something else I would need to do? Any other suggestions related to the upgrade would be appreciated too.

Thanks

About how long would you estimate this upgrade to take?

if you follow the correct upgrad procedure it should all be fine.

Personaly I do not like undertaking upgrades remotly just incase there are any unforseen issues + transfering the files can take quite some time over a 64k ISDN link.
if a customer ends up with a non working system you do not want to be 2-4 hrs away

If you have any external applications such as VM Pro, One-X or CCR then these need upgrading as well so a remote upgrade is not very practical

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Also what is the reason behind the upgrade

remember rule 1 of engineering - If it aint broke dont fix it!

Thanks for the replies folks....love the response time here.

As for why I'm performing the upgrade...the client has requested it. The technical contact onsite plays around enough with the system and wanted to upgrade. Once I mentioned they would have to purchase a new license they asked for the patch.

Yes I planned to perform this remotely but, really the client is maybe 1.5 miles from the office so it wouldn't be a big deal to go by. Perhaps I should.....

go on site if it's that close, besides upgrade will go quicker
