The morning, afternoon, and evening greetings are typically not used only the menu options (*8401 for the first AA) is the only greeting that should be recorded.
The morning/afternoon/evening are kind of weird and confusing greetings. The only real reason to use them is if you want a greeting, based on time of day, before you give the options (hence the menu options). The only way I can ever explain is if say you have a restaurant. You would record morning to say "We are now serving breakfast", afternoon to say "we are now serving lunch", and evening to say "we are now serving dinner". The menu options portion stays the same "press 1 to make a reservation, 2 to order carryout, 3 to talk to manager"
At 9am(based on a time profile in the AA) it will say "We are now serving breakfast" "press 1 to make a reservation, 2 to order carryout, 3 to talk to manager"
At 1pm(based on a time profile in the AA) it will say "we are now serving lunch" "press 1 to make a reservation, 2 to order carryout, 3 to talk to manager"
At 6pm(based on a time profile in the AA) it will say "we are now serving dinner" "press 1 to make a reservation, 2 to order carryout, 3 to talk to manager"
As you can see you dont need the morning, afternoon, or evening greetings in about 99% of the situations you simply need the menu options. Not only that but you are causing issues if you use the morning/afternoon/evening. First you can't replay those greetings by hitting a selector only the menu options can be repeated. The second issue is if you transfer from one AA to another AA it skips morning/afternoon/evening and goes straight to menu options greeting.
The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
