iPlanet set up of multiple sites (using CGI client host definitions)

I've got a custom web site and application back end that requires a cgi client host app servers to be listed in the (UNIX based) iPlanet web server host file.

I can set up specific ports, and it'll work, however the solution is not elegant.

I'm looking to set up )virtual servers that access their specific portion of the host file to determine the proper app servers to hit.
