Hi guys, I'm looking for some help cracking the web interface passwords for a second hand system I have installed for a client.

the system comprises
CPUI()-U13
MIFM()-U13
COI(4)-U13
ESIB(8)-U13 + ESIE(8)-U13
VMS()-U43 CF256(4) LX2.0.2.0 with clock fix

I have connected to the VMS through the serial port, used the maintenance menu to back up the existing configuration and then reset the configuration to default. I was hoping this would give me access to the web interface using default passwords such as NEC/632 or 0327 or 0000. I have not been sucessful.
As this card is an LX (linux) version I beleive all the mailbox setup etc. is done through the web interface.
Does anyone know a way past this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Andy

Forgive me for being skeptical but I have never heard of a Linux version of a VM on the IPK. Why would you rewrite the software when it works as the voicemail on both the IVS/IPS ranges and the IPK ranges. I think there is something amiss here but I stand to be corrected. I have never heard of a way to connect to the IPK VM via IP either, I have always used Cosessions, in fact I have documentation that says the RJ connector on the card is not used!

I suspect that you are trying to use an unsupported means of connecting to the system and you really need to go back to Cosessions in order to connect to the VM.

Hi, thanks for responding.

I assure you that i'm not taking the piss.

Logging into the maintenance menu only gives limited options, ie: email configuration, network address, backup & restore, default configuration, upgrades etc.
By using the maintenace menu to setup the VMS on my network I can open a browser window to the Elitemail LX login screen.
See the login screen in this manual, page 24. From what I have read, the Linux O/S was introduced when NEC aquired Active Voice who specialized in Linux VM systems.
The features in the manual show that mailboxes are setup, and mail checked through the web interface, or via Veiwmail which is an Outlook plugin.

I have assigned the 4 VMS ports to extension numbers which I can dial & hear the message of the systems previous owner, but until I have a password to configure & retrieve messages i'm stuck.

I have read on forums about looking through the avent.av file for a password, and have done this. But have not been able to get past the login.

US systems had designations of U10/20/30/40, not 13/43. Is this a US system?
I believe the LX systems had better security. Have you tried $nec?

Try pointing your browser to the IP address followed by /admin .
That should take you to a screen where $nec will be the user with no password.
If this works then I have some documentation that will help with the rest.

Thanks guys,

PFD45 that worked. You obviously know your way around this O/S. Thank you.

I would welcome any admin/installer documentation. The only info I can find in the web is user guides.

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks again PFD45 for the installer manual. That's exactly what I have been searching for.
