Hi

i'm using a macbook 2Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM.

my iphoto library has about 7.5k images in it. i'm trying to print about 500 images as a contact sheet (renders in 9 pages)

printing this either to a laserjet (networked on a wired connection) or to a pdf takes about 10 minutes per page in 'processing' and longer than that again to print. it murders system resources and battery time whilst doing so.

basically more than two hours to print.

compare this with a 4 year old 1GHz Toshiba and the process takes about 10 minutes.

why is this? is iphoto really that bad? If so, what do people use in the real world?

Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed.
I had the same problem and it seemed to sort it.

thanks. the machine is fresh so the drivers are only a few weeks old. for the pdf i tried setting the printer to laserjets, officejets and all sorts of things.

I was going to ask - does everything else print really slowly to this printer too?

The question should be [red]Is it worth trying to do?[/red] not [blue] Can it be done?[/blue]

nope - i'm a lawyer so regularly print large documents to the printer. Runs like a dream in both mono and colour modes.

I have a very similar machine, and print from iPhoto to a local Epson R800, and I don't have any issues at all, but I don't know whether iPhoto behaves badly over a network. Is there anyway you can print locally to check?

Sorry I can't be more help than that.

can't get more local than a pdf ! as posted - same problems occur.
