Hi

Any help would be appreciated with regards to the following:

I have puchased a ssl certificate from versign: mail.mydomain.com

mail.mydomain.com points to my exchange 2003 server which we house here at the office.

I have installed the certificate on the server and all is working ok, I can connect fine with Outlook Web Access using SSL.

I follow these steps Iphone -> settings -> mail, contacts, calendars -> add account -> Microsoft exchange ->

Enter the email address username and password

Now on the iphone I get the following error:
Unable to verify certificate

The certificate from “mydomain.com” for account test@mydomain.com could not be verified

As you can see, first of all it is trying to connect to mydomain.com instead of mail.mydomain.com I dont understand why the Iphone is trying to connect here because at this stage I have not entered the server information.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thank you

Maybe these will help:

it sounds like the easiest method is to email the cert to the iphone then install it when prompted after downloading.
The 3rd link seems to have a good amount and variety of possibly useful information.

fisheromacse Thank you for your post ... but no luck. I have installed the cert on the phone but it still wants to look at mydomain.com.

I am sure I cant be the only person with such a problem. If any one has any ideas it would be appreciated.

Thanks

An update ... but still not solved.

Not sure if this is applicable but here goes: Our website is hosted on a shared server, this shared server has a shared certificate. Verisign are saying to me that if they remove the certificate at our hosting company the trafic will then be directed to our mail server that holds the correct certificate. The hosting company are now saying we should buy a dedicated server!! Can anyone make heads or tails of this? I cant move the site to a dedicated server only to find out that it is not the problem!

Any ideas or pointers appreciated ... thanks
