Hi all. What can I do to stop my Iphone 3GS from losing all contacts, e-mails, etc when it's unable to sync to the E-mail server? The E-mail server is Exchange 2003 Enterprise. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hello. I'm not 100% of the precise solution but I know the network admin guy mentioned something about installing ActiveSync. Something about going to the Exchange Mobile Services Properties and adding exceptions for each iPhone/iPad user.
Then, allow access to exchange ACTIVESYNC
a) Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
b) Find and open the user’s account information.
c) Click the Exchange Features tab and enable both User Initiated Synchronization and Up-to-date Notifications.
Then, add the users to the ActiveSync group in Active Directory.
Then, if you want to back up the iPhone to your PC with iTunes, install iTunes, hook up the iPhone and configure it to connect to email via iTunes.
Finally,go to the iPhone, Settings, Mail, etc. and configure the Exchange account there.
That all I have. Sorry I can't be more help, but let me know if I gave you a clue.
Jtorres, Thankyou for your suggestion, however backing up the contacts to Itunes, and having duplicate entries of all contacts is not a viable option to our users.
The iTunes option is optional. We don't do it here. We just pull directly from Exchange and we don't have problems pulling the data. How about the other steps? Do they make any sense? I have no idea... hehehe. Just making sure you don't discard the entire reply based on an optional suggestion. LOL Good luck.
The other steps do make sense and we are able to sync to Exchange with our Iphones, however if the Exchange Information Store is down, the Iphone users e-mails and contacts get erased from their Iphones. Is there a patch/solution/fail-safe setting on the Iphone to hold on to the Exchange e-mails and contacts should the Exchange Information Store go down? The Iphones are running on 4.0 OS.
