I just installed Debian Woody on an x86. When running 'ipchains -L' i get an "Incompatible with this kernel" error. I think this means I need to recompile with ipchains/firewall support but want to make sure this is the case before I go through all the trouble. Thanks!

Ipchain could support linux kernel 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 or latest.
If your linux kernel 2.4 also can use iptables.
Did you install ipchain from different source or from Debian Woody?
You can check this website : This website will help you about ipchain and iptables.
