Hello all,

We're running version 25.40B on a Nortel Option 61C that is having sporadic dropped calls - only about 6 per day. Sometimes it's immediately after pickup from ringing or two or three minutes into the conversation. The odd thing is that there are no errors whatsoever on the console. IPC has tested the line and wants to begin swapping hardware but we think that hardware would generate errors on the console.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I would advise putting a T-Berd on the circuit, and monitor for errors.

If errors are found on the receive side, report to your Telco. If errors are found on the transmit side, swap hardware.

In both cases, continue monitoring until the errors are eliminated.

It could be a bad headset for example. If the cabling to the headset is bad or the connection is poor the set could treat it as if you hang up the call, and you would have a normal call clearing.

Natruly there could be other scenarios, but sometimes they are really stupid.

Reset the MC-32 card, disable the card pull it out and put it back in, enable it. Do this one at a time see if it help.

Good point raised earlier. You *think* you are seeing a call disconnect. Maybe you are, amy be you aren't. What you need is a DCH trace of the call drop.

This will show you what side dropped it as well as possibly why.

enl msgi x and msgo x on the d's will set up a stream of data that will verify the source of the problem.. it;s either a tear down request from the far end or an internal rls requset

console errors are seldom much help, screen bugs and errors tend to give you better clues as to the source of the problem..
