ipaq 3650 dead battery

help!
i have a 3650 ipaq with a dead battery which doesn't charge. it just sits in my drawer because i am too cheap to send it to compaq for a minimum of $100 to put a new battery in it. can i buy a battery somewhere and install it myself? I can fix a toilet, so i think i could do something this simple. thanks

If you can get it apart you might find a replacement battery at Radio Shack. Here is another alternative:
