Hi all,

Don't know whether anyone else has come accross this but...

We have a number of 2210's. Some have ROM Revision 1.00.10, and some have 1.10.07

The 1.10.07's are fine, work perfectly, and are able to dial our ISP without any problems.

The 1.00.10's however, have ann identical set up and yey always fail to dial properly. The error that is returned is 'The remote modem has disconnected......'

Since there is no sound on these CF modems, I have no idea whether they are dialling at all!

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks

Are the modems the same? Can you try the modems in the 2210's that you know work? At least you would know if it is a modem or the iPaq.

I know there were some things fixed in the newer ROM version 1.10.07. It would take time to search to find out exactly what.

Let me know about the modems and I will try to find something about the different ROM versions.

Thanks Glohamar,

Yes, the modems are identical. In fact I just took a working modem out of one of the 1.10.07's and put it in a 1.00.10 machine. It didn't work!

Do you know if you can upgrade the ROM, like a firmware upgrade?

Update:

After a really unhelpful conversation with HP, they pointed me in the direction of a ROM update. Once downloaded and installed the ipaq is now a 1.10.07 version ROM. Still no joy with the dialling up to an ISP though! After about 12 attempts at dialling, the machine suddenly connected! But I've not been able to connect properly again since!!

Aaargh!
