We know that if a IP500v2 has had the branding license applied it is permanently stored in the IP500 itself
and shows up as a BT logo or "BT IP Office" on some Handset displays, such as the 9508 on R8.1 or above.

We have not come across any R8.0 and below to display the logo or "BT IP Office" but does that mean it might still be branded and only show up once its been
upgraded to R8.1 or later? if so is there a way to find out without upgrading to R8.1 or above?

Check the Licence and see if soft branding licence has been applied.

7.0 & 8.0 systems were not branded

The branding is not done on a upgrade.
Its only on the Licence and once applied it cant be removed.

Is there a list of handsets that would display the BT Branding?

1403 don't display the branding as there is not enough room on the display.

All other phones will.

Just swap the chassis if it's that much of an issue, its hardly a high cost item and allows almost the latest firmware to be used :)
