i have a ip406 thats on a lan with a 512k sdsl and a netscreen 25 firewall.

at the remote site 512/128k adsl with a billion 741gev2 where the 4612 is.

both firewalls use 3DES and MD5 for the tunnel, its up and everything works over the vpn.

the phone boots and connects and logs in, it can dial and the b-party rings but when it answer no voice transmission occurs?

any ideas?

you may find a problem with the ports being used by the speach paortion of the VoiP calls
check that your VPN software will alow bidirectional connection to prots 49152-53247
these pports are also used by some broadband providers & may not be available for use

its using hardware appliance at each end with all ports open in both directions over then VPN so the broadband provider issue shouldnt affect this as everything is inside the tunnel isnt it?

as far as I know yes, bt VPN tunneling seems to be a total black art to me at the moment so I though I would through in a few sugestions.

The fault description suggests that the VoIP setup data is getting through (port 1720) but somthing is going wrong with the actual data (41952-53247), are you sure that both ends are using the same compression mode (avoid using automatic if possible)
