IP412 not letting anyone log into Phone Manager

We have an Avaya IP412 which is on it's last legs but just trying to get it to see out the year before upgrading.

For some reason came into work yesterday and it will not allow anyone to log into Phone Manager.

It give a username and password error first of all and if you go into Configure and PBX even though the correct IP for the unit is in there when you click the drop down to select a name it's blank with no names in there.

Also and I don't know if this is related, Voicemails that are left are distorted is the best explanation I can give.

I've given the PC running the core Manager program a fixed IP, rebooted and entered this in the system configuration in the Manager software, rebooted and nothing.

So before I carried on fiddling and making it worse I thought I would seek the help of far more knowledgeable people first!
