I have an IP2004 phone that I am trying to upgrade the firmware on but the phone never links with the switch.
Is it possible that the NIC port on the phone is disabled as I am having this problem on several phones. Is there anything else I can do? I am pretty sure it is a TCP problem, and probably just a bad phone. Just seeing if I have any other options. Thanks in advance for any help.

does the phone power up? how is phone powered? poe or power brick?

The phone powers up fine, I can enter the phone config no problem. Running DHCP

The phone will automatically download the newest firmware on the system even if it has newer firmware itself.

The set is obviously not finding the call server.

More specifcs please...call server type, rev, network topology (VLANS?) would certainly help.

I am connecting to a BCM 400 4.0 that is connected to a Baystack 450-24T switch. Running DHCP. I am using a basic network config for Ip 20004 phone testing purposes only.

Assign the phone a static IP in the same subnet as the BCM and connect it directly with a X-over cable. If it connects, the intervening network is the source of your problem.
