hello guys!

is there any way flash can detect IP addresses? what i want to do is to create a flash counter that counts how many hits my page have but each hit must not come from the same computer, hence the need to know the IP address. could anyone enlighten me?

Thanks ang Godspeed!

There is a cgi script at that will check for a cookie on the users hard drive. Maybe it would be possible to tie that in somehow with what you are trying to do.

The example given was a message that read "Oh...I see this is your first visit to my website"

using this method...it would only count the same visitor 1 time. Anyone with the cookie would not get counted (unless they are like myself and clear out their cache, cookies, and temporary internet files every night).

Just an idea...may not be feasible as I have not tried it myself. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

tulsaJeff,

its actually not a bad idea! that could esily solve my problem and listen the time needed to do it as well! and u r right, a problem would come out if u do clear your cache. hence the need for the IP Address 'coz we can store it in the server. i gues that'll have to do if there aint no solution to this. I had a hard time figuring out the code, though much of it is comprehensible, it took me a hard time to understand it, primarily because im an ASP developer.
Thanks for the input!

any other ideas guys?
