hello all, Gracie here.
We have been running a two-computer network for a few months now - one XP and t'other win 98.
We have a Kobian BR4P NAT router and our ISP is Ntl (cable), which does not support networks, unless you do it through them. Our NIC's are Realtek
Every few days, but not so regularly that you can depend upon it, we lose the network because the IP address has not been renewed. Each time I have this message in event log
'Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0050FCE9C174. The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.'
Can you tell me if the problem lies with the network settings, the ISP or our router?
We have a digital TV set top box , not a modem. The only way I can get the network up again is to switch the set top box off and then on so that it goes through its little routine. Then we are ok for a few days before it happens again...
