From what I have read when setting up IP trunking between two Avaya’s you require a C-LAN card for the signalling and a MedPro for the trunks (Bearers), thus two IP addresses are required for each node. With most other vendors only one IP address is used for a Gateway when setting up IP trunking. The question is can you use IP trunking between an Avaya and another Vendor. If any one has set this up any advice would be appreciated on how to set up the AVAYA.

Yes you can use Avaya via h.323 with many/most other vendors. Many different config options etc. If your more specific about what your trying to set up I am sure someone here has also tried it :)

I too, am wondering if I can setup H.323 Trunk between G3R9.5 and Cisco IOS V12.2 Voice router (w/FXO,FXS, DSP's). Can you provide examples of any unique (non-default) Dialer-Peer, Port and H.323 settings that you've found worked for you?

Thanks Jay,
A nice collection of links--I'll spend some time looking through them more in depth. Most of the examples deal with S8700's but it looks like my V9.5 has most of the same options with the C-Lan and MedPro--except I'm not using Call Manager.
I was able to configure a pretty straight forward toll-bypass application that connects an Avaya Station (2333), plugged into a 2611 Cisco FXO port, connected across the internet to an FXO port on a Cisco 1751 in another counrty that is plugged into an analog CO line, such that when you dial the Avaya extension the Cisco gives a tone and you enter the number as Country code+the number as you would dial it locally. The country code is just for matching the dial-peer and is stripped. This was the bare minimum of what I was after. If I get the time, I'll sit down and write up a FAQ on this for others.

I've done what you're trying to do before with R9.5 but had problems with the dtmf tone issue..

I want to implement "Least Cost Routing" and take advantage of VOIP. I would like to route internal calls via IP from a Cisco Call Manager location (NYC) to a Definity G3 location (Chicago) as well as route any calls that would be originated from NYC to another Chicago number over the local PRI in the Chicago office. I have a G3csiV11 (R011i.2.0.110.4)and I want to create IP trunking to my Cisco Call Manager (4.0). I have 2 Cisco 2851 voice routers at my NYC location "A" and the Chicago Location "B" has the Definity R11 with a PRI and C-Lan & Med Pro Card and I have 5 right-to-use licenses for IP Trunking. My WAN links are as follows: 3mb IMA Fame Circuit at Location "B" to the Data Center and 50Mb pipe from Location "A" to the Data Center.

I have seen the link above describe the intergration with the S8700, are there any documents on the Intergration between the G3's?

Anyone do something similar and have documentation?

Buckwheat,

What do you mean by the DTMF tone issue?

I have a customer that has a no DTMF tone issue w/ some
Cisco 7920 wireless IP phones. They are connected to an S8700
via Call Manager Express 3.1 on a 2651XM with IOS 12.8.T3
going over IP trunks.

All call functions work except where DTMF tones are
required (such as an Auto-attendant).

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Just in regards to the DTMF issue, we have been doing a stack of testing using a mix of S8700/G650, NEC IPX, and Cisco CM. If you're not getting DTMF through the trunks, make sure you have it set to send as "RTP Payload" and that should work. We found that if we used any other setting the results were hit and miss at best.

Is there a setting that says "Send DTMF as RTP Paylosd"?
Is it on the Avaya? Can you be more explicit?
Thanks,
Mark
