IP to ISP Lookup

I would like to find the ISP of a client so i can keep track of the ISPs (or domain) people are using to visit me from!

I have seen this on several sites (uk2.net among others) Now i assume this is done by somehow comparing the client IP to a lookup table, if so, any ideas where this table is, as parsing the whois database seems a little too complicated!!!

Has anyone had any experience in this area, and if so any pointers?
