OK, got an interesting one here that I've not been able to find a previous post on.

Running CM3 (S8710) in MI with an ESS (S8500) in AZ. We also have users in another location using IP SoftPhone (not PBX/Server in Location 3). IP SoftPhone calls between S8710 and S8500 work fine.

When users make/receive calls at Location 3 (IP SoftPhones only), inbound audio is not passed and the caller hears nothing. Outbound audio is just fine at the receiving end (S8710 and S8500). A call placed from a SoftPhone client in Location 3 is heard perfectly at S8710 location and at S8500 location, but voice is not heard at all in Location 3. This applies to all SoftPhone users at Location 3. (About 10 SoftPhone users.)

It worked perfectly until last week. Connectivity is a Sprint MPLS circuit with QOS in place and working correctly. It's not a utilization issue, as no point in the pipe has been above 50% utilization.

Anyone ever experience/fix this before?

Thanks.

DJPlaZma,

things to check first:
a) ip-network-map
b) list trace station (softphones)

DJPlaZma,

Chech your IP routes from location 3 to 1 & 2. Are the users using correct gateways ? Do your medpro's have the correct gateways ?

Ok, I just thought of a couple more points of clarification.

The SoftPhone users at Location #3 are using the S8710 as their server. There is no pbx/server equipment in Location 3 at all. Location #3 is, essentially, an extension of Location #1 (S8710). (They're located about 25 miles apart and are connected with an MPLS circuit.)

Connectivity = S8710 in New Hudson, MI. MPLS Circuit to Plymouth, MI. At Plymouth (Location #3) it has a non-manageable LinkSys (it's not MY fault!) switch. ALL IP devices us this switch.

ALSO... I was just informed that it's [/i]not[/i] all users, as I was originally told...which only makes things more confusing.

DJPlaZma,

run list trace and see what's going on.

Dwalin,

I'm going to. Trying to raise someone there on the Nextel with access to one of the stations that has the problem. Proving to be a bit difficult, because the primary user is out for the afternoon. I DO appreciate your input so far. As soon as I do I'll post the results.

Ok, here's the [/i]list trace station 3014[/i] from the SoftPhone station 3014 to my station (3033). My station is a 6424. I could hear the caller, but the caller could not hear me.

A MILLION thanks.

DJPlaZma,

considering that this is mpls circuit AND this problem appeared not a long time ago: are you completely sure there are no problems with firewalling between location 3 and location 1?
also, i suppose 172.16.152.39 is ip address of the medpro board in location 1. is it? i see you have one region for both locations, is there any chance you're using the same region for location 2? if so, there may be a situation when medpro board from location 2 is used instead of one in location 1. this can be a problem too.
and another, completely stupid suggestion: did you try to check softphone users' microphones? :) i've seen them going bad several pieces a time, especially when they were bought simultaneously and are from the same mfg series.
