Hi, I got a question, appreciate if anyone can give a shot. my production is CS1K V7.5, I want to install some softphone 2050, my question is: do I need to buy license for cS1K in order to make it support softphone? or just buy license on a Licensing Server? and softphone software itself need license or not?

thanks.

You need an IP phone ISM for every 2050 that you want to program, the 2050 IP Softphone software can be downloaded for free from support.avaya.com, a PC with the licensing server software installed, and a license installed on that PC for the maximum number of concurrent instances of the 2050 that will be in operation at any point in time.

The older version of the 2050 did not use the licensing software but the terms of the RTU are that you purchase one copy of the CD for each installed instance.

@firebridscrambler - Version 2 falls under my last statement. The terms of the RTU (which you accept when you install) is that you have purchased one copy of the CD for each installed instance.

I think the terms are indeed correct. I'm just stating that I found it to work fine on Windows 7. I seem to recall that Windows 7 wasn't available when version 2 was released.

I wouldn't expect it to be supported by Avaya, but that doesn't mean to say that it won't work.
