Hello,

I have a Novell Netware 5 DNS server, and the network 10.1.191.0/24 is unreachable from/to this server. I checked the routing process on the routers, everything seems to be good. So it should be a problem of routing table or a gateway problem on this server. Could you please tell me how to check it and how re-configure gateway and routing table on the server ?

Thanks for your help.

Igor.

Is the server attached to the 10.1.191.0 subnet, or a different one?

What is the IP Address of the Server?
If this particular Server is attached to a different subnet than the one you wish to get to, then what is the IP Address of the router (or gateway) that is required to reach that destination?

Are you using INETCFG, or command lines in the AUTOEXEC.NCF?

Please advise.

Good Luck!

Hi,

The IP address of the primary DNS server is 10.1.149.10, the secondary DNS server is 10.1.149.9.
Those servers connect on the router 10.1.149.2 to reach the distant 10.1.191.0 subnet (but as I said, I cannot ping this network from any of my DNS server). What is strange is that the distant router 10.1.191.1 has an other address 10.1.136.1, and there is no problem to reach this subnet 10.1.136.0/24, always with the same router 10.1.149.2.

I am using command lines in AUTOEXEC.NCF, but no one give me information about routing table or gateway(s) used. About INETCFG, I don't know if I use it. How can I see that ?

Do you get any idea of the problem ? What do I have to check ?

In fact,

The server DHCP/DNS 10.1.149.9 is not well configured : I found in the file TCPIP.CFG the address 10.1.191.9 configured as an interface. It is wrong and should be deleted. Could you please tell me if I just have to delete the correspondant lines directly in the file, or do I have to do something else (is there a binding Novell Netware tool) ?

Thanks for your answer !!!

Basically, INETCFG will handle all of the Adapter/Protocol activities. If you type in INETCFG and the Server COnsole Prompt, one of two things will occurr...

If this is the first time for INETCFG, it will ask you if you would like to transfer the LAN related information to INETCFG. Answer YES to this. Then allow the server to reboot.

Once the Server has rebooted, go back into INETCFG and you will see an Available Options Menu consisting of items like BOARD, PROTOCOLS, BINDINGS, etc... Under PROTOCOLS, go to TCPIP, then LAN STATIC ROUTING. Make sure this is set to ENABLE. Go to LAN STATIC ROUTING TABLE and create a DEFAULT ROUTE entry with a NEXT HOP of your ROUTER.

Browse around in INETCFG and make any necessary changes.

Feel free if you have any further questions!!!

Good Luck!

Thanks for all,

I changed configuration with INETCFG (I deleted interface 10.1.191.9 IP address from BINDING menu), and now it's working, there is no more conflit with the 10.1.191.0/24 subnet.
